Asaperda agapanthina, a species occuring in Russian far East and Japan, has been described from Yokohama environs (Japan) by Henry Walter Bates in 1873 [❖]. Larvae of this highly polyphagous beetle develop in thin weakened or dying branches of many broadleaf trees and shrubs, but species also infests relatively healthy trees. Adults, active from June to August, lead a hidden way of life, do not visit flowers and can be beaten from branches of the host trees. Beetles require maturation feeding on bark of thin twigs [▽].

The depicted beetles were collected: ♂ - close to the mouth of stream Odinokyi (Одинокий) (N43°54′42″ E145°30′33″; 1.5 km SWW Alekhino) on August 5, 2011; ♀ - in Tretyakovo (Третьяково) cottage settlement environs (N43°59′09″ E145°39′15″; Valentina creek valley) on August 10-14, 2011. Both localities are located in Kurils Nature Reserve (Kunashir/Кунаши́р island, Kuril Islands, Yuzhno-Kurilsky district, Sakhalin region, Russia).Collected by Kirill V. Makarov and A. Zaitsev
