Anaglyptus baeticus, an endemic species to South Spain, has been described according many specimens collected in Baetic Cordillera mountain range by Antonio Verdugo Páez, José Luis Lencina Gutiérrez and Manuel Baena in 2019 [▽].
A. baeticus is a species closely related to Anaglyptus mysticus (Linnaeus, 1758). With A. mysticus it shares the same general appearance, but differs by its larger average size,
more acuminate elytra, especially in the male (parallel in A. mysticus), different coloration, which varies from orange to brown, with black and irregular transverse gray lines (in red and black with grayish bands in A. mysticus)
and differences in the genitalia of both sexes.

The depicted beetle (paratype) was collected using wine trap in its type locality - Rambla Seca environs (Sierra de Cazorla, Jaén province, Andalusia, Spain) on June 16 - July 7, 2018.
