Agapanthia turanica, a Central-Asian species occuring in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and NW China, has been described from "Turkestan" as Agapanthia subchalybaea turanica by Nikolai N. Plavilstshikov in 1929 [▽].

The depicted beetle was collected Prokhodnayaya (Проходная) river valley (N43°02′33″ E76°55′06″; 2670 m a.s.l., Trans-Ili Alatau, Almaty Region, Kazakhstan) on June 7, 2013.
