Agapanthia cardui,+ a widespread species in Central and Southern Europe southward to southern Greece, Italy (southward to Sicily) and Spain (to Gibraltar), has been described from "Europa Australioris" as Cerambyx Cardui by Carl Linné in 1767 [✮]. Larvae develop in stalks of various herbaceous plants, life-cycle one year. Adults can be found on host plants from April to July [✧].
Further clarification of nomenclatural status and distributional ranges of A. cardui complex is needed. The part of the Gianfarnco Sama' work about the taxonomy of this group very well explains the status of this species [❖].

The mounted specimens were collected in: ♂ – NNM Pouzdřanská step (Pouzdřany village environs, Břeclav district, South Moravia, Czechia) on May 17, 2020; ♀ – Kamenica nad Hronom environs (Nové Zámky district, Nitra region, Slovakia) on May 12, 2007. The depicted beetles living were collected in Soutok Game Reserve (Pohansko Chateau environs, Břeclav ditrict, South Moravia Czechia) on June 5, 2016.Collected by David Navrátil and Daniel Rydzi
