Acalolepta sejuncta, a North-East Asian species occuring in Russian Far East, Japan, Korean peninsula and North China, has been described from Japan (Nagasaki/Hiogo environs) as Monohammus sejunctus
by Henry Walter Bates in 1873 [▽].
A. sejuncta, inhabiting North-East Asian deciduous and mixed forest zones, is polyphagous species attacking both deciduous and coniferous trees.
Its larvae develop in trunks of weaekened living trees and shrubs. Youg larvae feed subcortically, creating in sapwood slightly impressed galleries filled with fine frass.
Later instars enter the wood and bore gallery finished by pupal cell (after the second overwintering) where they also pupate. Life cycle 2 years. Adults, active from July to September, can be found
on the host trees [✧].
